Wisdom For Life – Teachings from the Bhagavad Gita – DHARMA
Date: Saturday, June 9
Time: 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
“Dharmakshetra,” meaning field of dharma, is the first word in the Bhagavad Gita, presenting a word with a few different meanings, all important to understand on our journey of personal and spiritual growth. In this first reference, dharma gives us a sense of righteousness, that which is right.
Later references have other meanings – most importantly, one’s purpose in this life.
So what exactly is dharma? What does it mean when we talk about the “purpose of life”? What does it mean to have a calling? How it is different from a profession or a job? What is the purpose of YOUR life?
Can one’s dharma change over time?
Explore these questions in the context of an explanation of dharma distilled from references throughout the 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, which encapsulates the wisdom of India’s ancient Vedic tradition and provides a guide to live with inner peace, wisdom and purpose.
The explanations will also touch on dharma as duty or responsibility; and on the related concepts of svadharma, adharma and karma yoga.
The teachings, Q&A and discussion will be led by Pamposh Dhar, who is a life-long student of the Bhagavad Gita. She is also a meditation and Reiki teacher, counsellor and coach.
